In a surprising crossover event that defies conventional predictions, Ubisoft has announced an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Adventure Uncovered

According to the official release, "A mysterious confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where rumors of banned ceremonies and fearsome metamorphoses resonate through the obscurity." The plot introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a hidden group.

The mission focuses on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Changes

The preview showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Bonus Features

Players who successfully complete the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana in addition to several items concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Exclusive arms
• Survey Corps steed

Newest Free Story Addition

This update also introduces the game's third no-cost story addition, titled "The Enigma." This humorous mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe debuts a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime series. The series previously included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally contained a quest that unmistakably referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
